Where’d I Put It?

Never forget where you put something again.

Between dorms, several storage units, and the piles of stuff at my parents’ house, I’m constantly losing track of where my things are. I always think I’ll remember where I packed something, only to spend half a day looking for it later on. So, as any normal person would do, I built an app.

WIPI is a simple offline item tracker that lets you log an item, tag where you stored it, and snap a photo so you know exactly in which box or shelf you left it. When you need it later, just search, and fuzzy search will find your logged items, even if you can’t remember exactly what you called them. For things you leave out in the world (like your Porsche in a giant parking lot or your cooler at a campsite), you can save a GPS pin and follow an arrow back to it. Or, you can just open the coordinates on your favorite maps app.

Your stuff is nobody’s business, so everything you log in WIPI stays on your phone. No account, no ads, and your items, photos and locations are never uploaded anywhere. The only thing WIPI sends out is anonymous crash and usage data so I can fix bugs. You can also lock the app with a PIN or your fingerprint, so a stolen phone doesn’t double as a map to all your valuables.

WIPI is free to use. WIPI Premium unlocks unlimited items, item groups, favorited locations, and Frutiger Aero mode (which doesn’t do anything other than look nice).

WIPI is currently only supported on Android (working on it!)
